This is the love that does not flee when it is tested.
Not because it feels no pain but because it understands that the pain is part of the teaching. That selfless love is not something we are born with, but rather it is something we earn through showing up, again and again, in the places where showing up costs us something.

In the way you choose another person's becoming as worthy of your patience, your attention, your own transformation.
Agape does not ask you to dissolve. It asks you to become more fully yourself so that your love is not need dressed as devotion but a gift you give from wholeness. It asks you to love not because it is easy but because it is the most serious, most sacred work a human being can do.
To live with this piece is to live with a reminder that love is not a feeling that comes and goes. It is a practice. A responsibility.
